Cottonwood's TK Students did a lesson on Moving On. The students reflected on the things that they have learned over the course of the past year. Inspired by the text, A House for A Hermit Crab, they each drew a hermit crab and decorated their soon to be outgrown shells with the treasures they have acquired over the course of their TK year. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars

Cougar Families, here is a quick look at the week ahead. The CTE class is going to see a Padre Game on Wednesday, May 20th at Petco Park. The students will get a tour of the stadium and enjoy watching the Padres square off against the Dodgers for the 5:40 p.m. game. The Community School Steering Committee is meeting on Wednesday, May 20th, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 7. All are welcome. On Thursday, our 4th Graders will be panning for gold at Riley's Farm. This is a fun and informative field trip that your 4th grader won't want to miss. On Thursday, May 21st, our band and choir students will join forces with the band and choir students at Hamilton Elementary and Idyllwild for a combined musical concert that will take place at Hamilton High School at 6:00 p.m. All musicians should report to Hamilton by 5:30 p.m. This promises to be a lovely evening. At Monday Meet Up we were greeted by our Cougar Cub Cheerleaders, welcomed a new student and staff member with our Aloha tradition, celebrated students with perfect attendance, honored the classes with the highest attendance percentages, learned about May is Mental Health Month and our friends Roxanne and Art from Jojoba Hills came and pulled names from our school wide drawing for bicycles. Here is a quick look at the week ahead. Our Middle School Boys Soccer Team is wrapping up their season on Monday, May 11th, at home at 3:15 p.m. when they square off against Hamilton. Our library is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair all week. The book fair will be open daily from 8:00-3:30 p.m. and on Friday night, May 15th, during Open House. The Elementary Track Meet will take place on Tuesday at Hemet High School. Our track athletes need to report to Cottonwood by 7:45 a.m. to make it to Hemet High in time for the first event. Our Cottonwood Honor Choir and Band has a rehearsal at Hamilton on Thursday afternoon. On Friday, May 15th, all of our elementary students and the band and choir will perform at the Spring Concert. Students should report to their classrooms to prepare by 4:45 p.m. The concert will start at 5:00 p.m. sharp, after the concert families can then view their children's classrooms and complete their Campus Passports. As we head out for the weekend, we want to wish everyone a safe and restful weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars
